Why do you make an excellent "Tech Ninja"?
I would make an excellent Tech Ninja because I am working to transform my campus and teachers in the realm of technology. Anything that I learn tech-wise I will be "pushing" on my co-teachers. My 7th graders just went 1:1 this year. We are learning how to behave on the internet as well as how to create using web 2.0 tools. They have constant access to any and all things that are used or shared in class because of all of the tech tools we are using.
What are some of your favorite Web 2.0 tools, and why?
Some of the awesome tools that we use are: Symbaloo. This is where you find EVERYTHING that we use. Every unit has a webmix with all of the vocab, all of the project apps we will need. Any research helps we may need as well as daily access to our notes. Socrative. All tests and quizzes are taken on this awesome web tool. This gives instant feedback on high miss questions or lets me see what they really understand. Weebly. My website is built on Weebly. Just like Symbaloo, everything is always accessible here. I also upload all project pictures so that parents can see what is being done daily. INSTAGRAM! We use this to "show off" all of our cool projects. REMIND101! They never NOT KNOW something is due!
Why is technology important in education?
Technology is important in education because it does provide instant access or instant feedback to a generation who feeds off of having everything at their fingertips. It has made teaching so easy to a point that the tools are all there, they just need to be used. Kids will never know a world without technology. We as teachers must teach them the correct way to use these tools that they may already be using 24-7.
