Why do you make an excellent "Tech Ninja"?
I live in Japan where the Ninja was born. Back in the day the Ninja was a covert agent that would specialize in unconventional warfare. A Tech Ninja is much the same, only our warfare is waged with technology and with encouraging others to learn and grown with it.
What are some of your favorite Web 2.0 tools, and why?
Google Apps for Education has me really excited about what the future holds for education. The ability to collaborate in these applications will lead to a deeper creation of a learning community for the stakeholders that are involved.
Ensemble infuses collaboration and creativity together by giving authors a platform to write a story socially. For students this is not only a great way to get their ideas and creativity out there, but it also allows for students to work on their social skills as they seek and receive ideas and feedback on their work.
UJam has me excited these days also. WIth UJam you can create music online for free. It's the do it yourself approach to learning that I just connect with. It also gives students a way to be creative, share their recordings and receive feedback.
Why is technology important in education?
Our world is becoming more and more connected. Education exists to prepare our learners for the challenges that they will face in their future. Many of those challenges will be with technology. If we do not adequately prepare our students for those challenges we will have failed as a system.
